A performance reminiscent of bygone eras, signed by Cian Uijtdebroeks who dominates the third and final stage of the Tour de l'Ain - the Plateau d'Hauteville - Belley of 130.4 km - and conquers the overall victory in the short French stage race.
In the stage featuring the climbs of Col de la Biche and Col du Grand Colombier, the Visma Lease a Bike rider literally dominated, winning the head-to-head battle with Nicolas Prodjomme (Decathlon Ag2r) who had beaten him in a two-man sprint at the finish of yesterday's second stage. The time gaps inflicted by Uijtdebroeks on his rivals were truly significant, testament to a condition finally rediscovered after many problems.
Uitdebroeks launched his attack 50 kilometers from the finish, practically from the first slopes of the Grand Colombier, forcing Prdhomme - who was leading him in the general classification by just two seconds - to surrender. He tackled the climb entirely alone and then descended towards the finish line, increasing his lead kilometer after kilometer.
