As we had already anticipated and now there are important confirmations from those directly involved: in 2026 the Giro d'Italia will almost certainly start from Bulgaria. Giving continuity to the rumors, as reported by the portal pronewsdobrich.bg, the Bulgarian Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh took care of it during a joint briefing with the Minister of Sport Ivan Peshev at the Council of Ministers.
"Today, the Government has supported the proposal from the two ministries to finalize negotiations to host the Giro d'Italia," said Minister Borshosh. "In the negotiations, Bulgaria has beaten the competition from several other countries and places our country on the world tourism map, making it a recognizable destination. The additional benefits this event will bring to Bulgaria's image are truly enormous. The Giro will arrive in Bulgaria in 2026 and will involve dozens of municipalities, which is exceptional for their development. The race will be structured in three stages, starting from one part of Bulgaria and ending in another. The dates and routes will be announced later, as well as the budget to be used."
After Albania, therefore, another country not typically associated with cycling is ready to turn pink and open its doors to bicycles.
