A valuable team member since 2022, Louis Vervaeke is having an excellent season with Soudal Quick-Step, despite an injury that prevented him from racing the Tour de France. In February, at the Tour of Oman, Louis crowned a sensational race in a breakaway, winning the first professional victory of his career, which came with the beautiful bonus of a day in the leader's jersey. He then continued to put his experience at the service of the team - in both one-day events and stage races - before a crash at the Dauphiné forced him to end the first part of the year.
It was no surprise that Louis was rewarded with a new contract with Soudal Quick-Step, extending his stay with the team until the end of 2028, a decision he had no trouble making: "I am really proud to continue for another three years with the team, because there were no doubts when it came to staying with the Wolfpack. This contract demonstrates the confidence Soudal Quick-Step has in me, and I am truly motivated to show that I can continue to be valuable to the team. It would be nice to win again in the future, now that I've had a chance to see what it feels like, but at the same time, I want to continue progressing, perform my domestique role and help the team achieve truly important victories."
Jürgen Foré, CEO of Soudal Quick-Step, echoed Louis's thoughts, stating: "Extending Louis's contract was an easy decision for both parties. Not only is he excellent in his role, as demonstrated numerous times in the Classics and Grand Tours over the past four years, but he has improved a lot since joining us - as shown by his Oman victory this season - and we believe he can continue to do so in the coming years. Louis is a true wolf, one who always puts the group's objectives first, and this makes us happy that he will continue with our jersey".
