At the end of the season, Ellen van Dijk will hang up her bike. The 38-year-old Dutch cyclist announced this last night on Dutch TV during the program De Avondetappe.
Three-time world time trial champion (2013, 2021, and 2022) and winner of the Tour of Flanders (2014, after a splendid solo action), Van Dijk also became European champion in 2021, showcasing her exceptional skills as a road cyclist.
In 2023, she became a mother for the first time and returned by signing a two-year contract with Lidl Trek. This season, she won the opening time trial of the Vuelta a Extremadura Feminina and especially the first time trial stage of the Vuelta España, reaching 70 victories in the top category.
