First, because there's very little flat terrain when crossing Vaucluse and Drôme (in the end, 1,650 meters of elevation will need to be overcome), then because there are a couple of côtes that can inspire the day's attackers, and finally because in the last 50 kilometers the mistral wind often blows and during frequent direction changes, some teams might attempt a coup to surprise the sprinters or perhaps even a rival in the general classification.
