A masterful race performance by Chantal Pegolo (pictured receiving Linda Sanarini's embrace) wins her the Gold Medal in the Junior Women's Points Race. The Friulian from Pasiano di Pordenone staged a spectacular battle with Russian Danshina (gold in the Omnium), beating her by just one point (40 to 39) and securing the European title. Danish rider Ida Fialla Dam completes the podium with bronze.

The men's points race also brings Julian Bortolami, son of a cycling legend, to the podium, winning bronze after a tough fight with German Esch, who finished fourth just one point behind the Italian. The title goes to Russian Mark Popov, with silver for Austrian Heimo Fugger.
