Tadej Pogacar excelled in the fourth stage of the Tour de France and in Rouen conquered his 100th career victory. "This is a fantastic victory. I enjoyed the finale and the many competitors. You're never completely sure of winning. The entire stage was an adrenaline rush. I tried an attack on the last climb, Jonas followed me and then everything... settled. João did an incredible job guiding me to the finish, even while others were attacking. So yes, I'm super super happy and proud of the team today. It's truly incredible".
At just 26 years old, Pogacar has achieved his 100th victory, and no rider in recent years has managed to reach such a high number of victories at the same age. In his palmares, the Slovenian has three Tour de France wins and a Giro d'Italia, a world title, and several Monument Classics.
"I'm speechless, it was a beautiful victory. The hundredth in my career and I achieved it at the Tour de France. Yes, winning it at the Tour is incredible and then with this jersey... it's even more important than having 100 victories, it's incredible".
For the world champion, it's important to win when there's also enjoyment. In fact, in many interviews over the years, he has always said that he finds motivation in racing when he enjoys battling against his opponents.
"This is the type of cycling I like, the exciting one that I love, and then with so many rivals, it's simply perfect. I'm not in yellow yet, but the legs feel fantastic. Anyway, we'll see tomorrow with a demanding time trial. It's clear that the goal is to win the yellow jersey, but we'll see later on".
