From May 24th to September 14th, Villa Manin in Passiriano hosts the exhibition "A Region on Bicycle". It's an opportunity to revisit the great cycling feats at Piancavallo and Zoncolan, from Marco Pantani to Gilberto Simoni, through original RAI images: ten stages that crossed the Region and marked the Pink Race from 1983 to today. And then, original newspapers celebrating the great protagonists of cycling in Friuli Venezia Giulia, from Van Looy to Motta, from Bitossi to Visentini, from the controversial 1946 arrival in Trieste of beloved Giordano Cottur to Mario Cipollini's lightning sprint in Udine 1990.
But the Region has also been a land of cyclists, teams, and bicycle artisans: and so, here are about twenty bicycles made in FVG and fifty colorful jerseys that will make us relive the Sixties and Seventies, thanks to Filcas, Zoppas, Doni, Assi Friuli, Hausbrandt, DLF and many other brands. And finally, the local pedal protagonists, from Sacile's Giovanni Micheletto, winner of a black and white Giro d'Italia, to the 'Bull of Buja' Jonathan Milan, one of the greatest current world-level sprinters, passing through Oreste Conte, Guido De Santi, Virginio Pizzali, Maurizio Bidinost, Daniele Pontoni, Enrico Gasparotto, Maria Paola Turcutto, Nada Cristofoli, Katia Aere, Sara Casasola and Stefano Viezzi. An exciting journey discovering all these cyclists, thanks to Renato Bulfon's collection from Mortegliano: over 200 pieces, including videos, photographs, paintings, jerseys and bicycles that tell the story of a Region that made cycling a reason for life, both socially and economically.
