For everyone, the social media post from Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe remained with the word "soon" accompanied by the wide-eyed emoticon next to number 8, which is the last team member for the Giro d'Italia. And this evening around 7 PM, the confirmation arrived: the eighth man will be Giulio Pellizzari, who will thus return to face the race that last year opened the doors to a WorldTour team for him.
Obviously, the young Marche talent will be involved in a different role, because the German team has a designated leader in Primoz Roglic, the number one favorite of the pink race. Alongside him are two high-value lieutenants like Jai Hindley, also like Roglic already a Giro winner, and Daniel Martínez, second last year behind Pogacar.
Working for them will be Slovenian Jan Tratnik, German Nico Denz, and the two other Italians Gianni Moscon and Giovanni Aleotti who complete one of the strongest formations we'll see at the Giro.
