The success celebrated at the 2025 Liège-Bastogne-Liège allowed Tadej Pogacar to update his already impressive statistics. The Slovenian superstar has in fact completed a hat-trick after his triumphs in 2021 and 2024 and has become the seventh rider with 3 or more victories in the Queen of Classics. He is also the tenth to win at least two consecutive editions and the sixth to win while wearing the world champion jersey.
But that's not all, because Pogacar has achieved the Flanders - Liège double in the same year, something only done in history by Belgian Merckx in 1969 and 1975, he is the eighth to win the Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège in quick succession and the first to sign the Flanders-Flèche-Liège triple in a single season (moreover as reigning World Champion).
Tadej has brought his Monument Classic wins to 9, reaching the third place in the all-time ranking alongside Irish Kelly and Italian champions Girardengo and Coppi, and is also the first ever to podium in 6 consecutive Monuments. In practice, since last year's Liège, he has never missed an appointment and has always placed among the top three.
On the day of Pogacar's ninth symphony, there was also glory for Italy, which thanks to Giulio Ciccone's fine 2nd place, returned to a podium that had been missing from the Doyenne since 2019, the year of Davide Formolo's honorable placement. For our movement, World Tour 2025 podiums have become 20, a figure that ranks first in the relative classification. The first position for number of victories in the main UCI circuit was instead consolidated by Slovenia, at 10.
