TOWARDS THE GIRO. LAUNCHED IN CASTELNUOVO NE' MONTI A... COMPLETELY PINK PROGRAM. GALLERY

GIRO D'ITALIA | 06/04/2025 | 08:13

The calendar of events that will accompany the Apennines to a somewhat historic day, which will see the arrival of the Viareggio - Castelnovo ne' Monti stage in the heart of the town, was presented in Reggio Emilia, at the Provincial headquarters.

The presentation was attended not only by representatives of the Municipality and local authorities, but also by various representatives of economic realities and sports associations, who will be an essential active part in the activities leading up to May 21st.

Explains the Mayor of Castelnovo, Emanuele Ferrari: "It is a pleasure and an honor to present the initiatives for the stage arrival in Castelnovo Monti, an event that has a significance that goes beyond the provincial level, also because the route will pass through the UNESCO MAB territories of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park. We are the only location in Emilia-Romagna hosting a stage finish in this edition of the Giro, sharing this honor with Modena, which will be the starting city of the 12th stage. We like the idea that this moment also means renewing a strong bond with the Emilia Romagna Region, which has strongly supported sports projects in Castelnovo and in the Apennines, understanding sport as a tool that also involves inclusion, healthy lifestyles, and territory promotion. The Giro d'Italia is probably the greatest sporting event in our country, with a unique ability to tell stories of people and places, building an epic of the everyday, a great popular novel. With simplicity and authenticity, we present these events that will accompany Castelnovo Monti City of Stage until May 21st, which is not the end of a journey but continues a commitment carried forward for years by many administrators, sports societies, volunteers, and is indeed a further projection towards the future that will see new milestones, if you'll allow me the wordplay."

The Provincial President, Giorgio Zanni, highlighted the social value of the Giro d'Italia, "an event known to everyone, from children to pensioners, and capable of stirring deep emotions in all. For us, the stages of May 21st and 22nd will be both a great opportunity for visibility and a challenge: we will invest more than 1.5 million euros in provincial roads, and I want to emphasize that these will not be investments just for the Giro but will serve the entire community."

The Sports Councilor of Castelnovo, Carlo Boni, illustrated the main events: "We have already had some moments of great importance and widespread participation, such as the morning at the Bismantova Theater with schools on the Regional Ethics Charter, or the extraordinary Champions' Aperitif that brought Paolo Bettini, Davide Cassani, Giuliano Razzoli, and Bruno Reverberi to Castelnovo, at the Onda della Pietra wellness village, for a memorable evening. School appointments continue to involve students, and among the upcoming events I would like to highlight, on April 12th in the morning, 'An Infinite Stone of Love', a collective performance at the Bismantova Stone in the morning (at 8:30), to draw the infinity symbol at the summit together with Associations and the Community that shares infinite love for the Giro and for the natural monument symbolizing the Apennines; in the same weekend, Piazza Gramsci will host a group of wood artists for a symposium dedicated to 'Giro d'Italia Carved in Wood'; the talk show 'I'll Tell You About the Giro d'Italia' at the Bismantova Theater on Wednesday, April 30th at 9 PM, will feature RAI cycling commentators Francesco Pancani, Fabio Genovesi, and Davide Cassani; during Easter, a special edition dedicated to the Giro of our most rooted and known event, Scus'n in the historic center, will be proposed; on Wednesday, May 14th, 'And Then We Went Out to See the Stars Again', an evening event at the Bismantova Stone (from 9 PM), between pink and darkness, constellations and music, Divine Comedy and nature suggestions together with astronomer Pierluigi Giacobazzi, Emanuele Ferrari, and the musicians of Peri-Merulo. And many other initiatives involving sports and volunteer associations, town merchants, cultural and festive appointments, until the day we're all waiting for. And let's not forget that the pink caravan will again transit through our territory the next day, May 22nd, with the stage passing through Felina."

The Regional Councilor for Tourism, Commerce, and Sport, Roberta Frisoni, who sent a message, adds: "This year too, Emilia-Romagna will be among the protagonist regions of the Giro d'Italia with two stages, one crossing the Modena territory and one the Reggio Apennines with arrival in the municipality of Castelnovo ne' Monti: the 11th stage, which for 185 kilometers will wind through a territory rich in environmental, landscape, and cultural excellence. Undoubtedly an extraordinary showcase, a unique promotion opportunity, which I am certain local Administrations, together with the Region, will know how to seize at best, thanks to the organizational capacity and hospitality that distinguish us. The Giro d'Italia is an unparalleled appointment, which has marked and continues to mark the history not only of sport but also of our country's customs. For over a century a great classic of cycling in Italy and worldwide, capable like few others of uniting and involving many enthusiasts. And confirmation that the sports and tourism combination is increasingly a winning one. Just over a month remains until May 21st: let's continue working together, ready to welcome the Pink Caravan."

The Stage Committee President, the entity that unites economic subjects of the territory who wanted to be partners of this historic event, is Enrico Grassi, entrepreneur, founder and president of E80 Group, who participated in the presentation. "For us, it is a source of pride to be alongside the Municipality of Castelnovo Monti - he said - which will host the 11th stage of the Giro d'Italia. This event is not just a great sporting competition, but also an opportunity to enhance and make our Apennines known, its traditions and its productive and social fabric, thanks to the numerous initiatives promoted by the Municipality in collaboration with institutions and local realities. Cycling represents resilience and team spirit and is a concrete example of how sport can unite and inspire. These are some of the characteristics that guide the commitment that E80 Group has been carrying forward for years to support the community, through investments in youth training and sports. Collaborations with Valorugby Emilia, Vianese Calcio, LG Competition Castelnovo Monti, as well as numerous educational and social projects realized in synergy with public and private entities, are testimony to this. The goal is to promote inclusion, strengthen social cohesion and counter discomfort, sharing values with young people both on and off the field. We believe in the future and in new generations: investing in them is the most sustainable choice we can make."

In addition to E80 Group, gold partner, BCC Emilbanca, Iren, Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium, Conad, Camar, Edil Pighini, Tazzioli & Magnani, Zara Line, Cirfood, energy 3, Decathlon, Pro Music, Cromotipografica, Officina 48, Medici Ermete e F.lli, CAT, Dodai, Pram, Bertoia Costruzioni, Malvolti Paolo Carpenteria, and Coop Italo San Giuseppe have also shared and supported the objectives of the "Giro ne' Monti" project.
