We're almost there, Sunday, March 16th in the province of Varese, many of the world's best athletes, both elite and junior, will face off in two highlight events of this first part of the season: the 26th Alfredo Binda Trophy - Municipality of Cittiglio, a UCI World Tour race, and the 12th Small Binda Trophy - Verbano Valleys, a UCI Nations Cup race.

These are feverish hours for the territory stretching from Luino, the new starting location for both races, to Cittiglio, where the Binda Trophy has always set its final finish line, crossing 25 municipalities from Lake Maggiore to Valcuvia, the natural basin of the Verbano Valley Community.

During these days of severe bad weather, there is continuous work to set up the best stage for the two races, awaiting the start; juniors at 9:00 AM, elite at 12:45 PM. The mileage has increased, the difficulties have grown, as has the level of the competing athletes. Among the juniors, all eyes are first on the athletes from the English national team, which has dominated recent editions. Among the elite, suspense until the last moment to see if sprinters will still be able to hold back climbers and all-rounders: "Year after year, from event to event, Cittiglio has become an important reference point for world women's cycling, confirming itself as a true hub of concrete initiatives that are always highly appreciated even on an international scale," emphasizes Simone Castoldi, president of the Verbano Valley Community. "Many events involve schools to ensure the spread of educational messages through sport. The Verbano Valley Community is joining its name to the '12th Small Binda Trophy' Nations Cup for junior women, reserved for junior athletes, which takes place on the same day before the elite race and will certainly give visibility to young cyclists who will compete on a less challenging route than the elite athletes, but which will certainly prove exciting and stimulating to bring out the value of new young champions. The Verbano Valley Community did not hesitate to confirm support for the two events, which have seen the triumph of the best athletes in the international panorama and demonstrates the continuous qualitative and numerical growth of this sports movement."

Beyond the sporting aspect, the world success of the Binda Trophy also stems from the attention that Cycling Sport Promotion pays to the environment, with its sustainability and territory care projects, to the culture of sports practice, proper nutrition, and road safety, with an invitation to practice cycling from school age. Weather permitting, from tonight in Luino to Sunday in Cittiglio, there will be many opportunities to talk about and pedal, adults and children. All together: "We are working hard to guarantee maximum safety for athletes and the public," declares president Mario Minervino, "waiting for the sun to shine again. There is great enthusiasm in the territory and great participation from everyone; institutions, law enforcement, and volunteers are working with great commitment. Rain or shine, Sunday will be a great cycling celebration."
