TIBERI STUDIES THE GIRO: «CHALLENGING ROUTE FROM THE START, MY GOALS ARE PODIUM AND WHITE JERSEY»

In 2024 Antonio Tiberi, born in 2001, finished fifth in his first participation in the pink race and this year his ambitions are growing and he wants to improve. The Lazio rider will be the classification man for us Italians and wants to climb on the podium and win the young rider's jersey again.
"My main goal will be to improve on the fifth place and try to bring home the white jersey again" – Tiberi said in Rome during the Giro d'Italia presentation.
"I'm preparing well and my seasonal debut will be at the Volta ao Algarve". Tiberi has just returned from Spain, where he will soon return to work with the team. We won't see him at the Classics, and the lead-up races to the Giro will be short stage races for him. "As I already said, I'll debut in Portugal, but I won't do the Ardennes Classics. Let's say I'll do a very targeted preparation for the Giro, with Tirreno, Tour of the Alps, and several high-altitude training camps".
The Bahrain – Victorious rider also took part in the Vuelta a España, but the results were not what he hoped for. "From last year's experiences at the Giro and Vuelta, I learned that I prefer the cold to the heat and then the Giro d'Italia helped me gain more awareness of my possibilities, my skills, and that I can achieve important results. In short, the two grand tours from last year made me understand that everything I've learned I'll put to use for this year's Giro d'Italia". He will arrive again in Rome, a city Tiberi knows very well, because his home is not far from the Capital.
"Last year, I must say that racing in Rome with one of the Giro d'Italia jerseys, was one of the most beautiful sensations of my entire life. I had my whole family waiting for me, and then doing the circuit in the city center was wonderful. I saw all those monuments I had visited as a child and then I passed through those streets I always go to. It was truly one of the most beautiful emotions and sensations".
The Giro d'Italia 2025 route was presented yesterday at the Music Park, in a packed Petrassi hall.
"The route is very interesting and certainly from the start in Albania, many things will be seen. The time trial caught my attention, and then I think of the stage from Gubbio to Siena, which will be one of my favorites, more on a suggestive level, because I'm particularly attached to the Tuscany region and I especially like gravel roads. The last week, with the Colle delle Finestre and Sestriere stages, will require a lot of energy. We'll have very tough days with significant elevation. I'm certain it will be a spectacular Giro from start to finish". Tiberi doesn't know all the climbs that will be faced in the three-week race, and for this reason, there will be periods when he will conduct reconnaissance on the route.
"I don't know all the climbs, especially in the part between Piedmont and France, and I've never done the Colle delle Finestre either, so let's say quite a few climbs are missing for me. Anyway, my goal this year is to improve on the 2024 result".]
