EVENEPOEL: «HOW MUCH I MISS MY BIKE! PATIENCE IS NEEDED AND I WON'T DO ANYTHING CRAZY»

At the moment, Evenepoel is still sidelined and his return is uncertain, although the Ardennes Classics remain the target for his racing comeback. "It's a difficult period for me. No training, nothing to do" - Evenepoel said through a video message - "It's hard to be without a bike for five weeks. But this is life and I'm facing it day by day". The two-time Olympic champion from Paris also gave a small overview of his program, but still doesn't know exactly how and when he will start racing. "It's not yet clear what my program will be. I hope to participate in the Ardennes Classics in April. But before making any decision, I'll need to see how I'm doing and where I'll be in terms of preparation. I hope my work for the Tour will be the same as last year, with high-altitude training and the Dauphiné. I won't do anything crazy: first, I need to fully recover". In his accident on December 3rd, while training on the roads of Oetingen in Belgium, Evenepoel had suffered a fracture of his right shoulder blade, hand, and some ribs, with lung contusions. The recovery is not short, and after a month, rest is still absolute and training has not resumed. "To recover 100%, I must first be able to train properly. I'll do everything possible to return to racing, but I must be patient. At the moment, I can only wish my teammates good luck for the start of the season. I miss them, and the winter training camp is always worth doing. But I can promise one thing: I will return and focus on my big goals".
