BRAMATI. "HAPPY WITH THE NORTHERN CAMPAIGN OF MY FAS AIRPORT SERVICES GUERCIOTTI PREMAC"

CYCLOCROSS | 09/01/2025 | 08:12
The team Fas Airport Services-Guerciotti-Premac has just completed a challenging northern campaign. Between Christmas and Epiphany, the cyclocross riders led by Luca Bramati challenged the world's best in World Cup, International Superprestige, and other Challenge races. "The environmental conditions – says Bramati – were difficult. Cold, rain, great mud, and especially the caliber of the opponents made the races interesting and challenging. To truly understand cyclocross, you must race in the Benelux countries. The battles with the dragons have tempered us".
During the holiday period, junior Mattia Agostinacchio, 17 years old, made his European Champion jersey shine. One victory and two second places confirm that the Valle d'Aosta rider is among the best in the world and his form is optimal ahead of the Italian Championships, decisive World Cup trials, and World Championships. The other junior from Fas Airport Services-Guerciotti-Premac, Umbrian Mattia Proietti Gagliardoni, 17 years old, also performed very well. Moreover, Proietti Gagliardoni finished 2nd in the international race in Dendermonde, a supporting event to the elite World Cup.
"At the beginning of December – notes Bramati – Mattia Proietti Gagliardoni was far from his best condition. Now he has improved a lot; the races in Belgium have done him good. He finished second in a race with a very international lineup. We are happy with him: he has improved by comparing himself with the strongest".
Elite rider Gioele Bertolini participated in the Dendermonde event. "He didn't do very well – reveals the team director – although initially hindered by a puncture. I expected more from Gioele".
The women's races between Christmas and Epiphany also registered great success in terms of internationality. "There were Americans, Canadians, and athletes from other continents. Essentially, we participated in a general rehearsal for the World Championships with the girls as well".
Lucia Bramati, Luca's daughter, is an under-23 rider showing good condition in the crucial phase of the season. Obviously, she challenged the elite, who dominated the events. However, in the under-23 ranking, the girl from Sandrigo made a good impression. At the beginning of February, there will also be the World Championship for under-23 riders only.
Lucia was the third under-23 to cross the finish line in the evening Superprestige in Diegem. In other occasions, she was fifth or sixth. "Thanks to the races in Belgium – says Luca Bramati – I can affirm that Lucia is potentially among the top 6 or 7 in the world. She also improved at the end of December. We are happy".
The World Cup event in Dendermonde did not include a race for junior girls only. Several athletes born in 2007 and 2008 thus participated in the open race, challenging the elite and under-23 riders. A total of 56 competitors participated. Elisa Ferri (born in 2007) finished thirty-first overall, leaving numerous elite and under-23 riders behind; she was the best among the juniors. "Elisa Ferri's performance – says the team director – was important". Her race lasted many more minutes compared to races she competes in in Italy. "Her family feared Elisa was in a form decline. Elisa Ferri proved the opposite". Brescian Elisa Bianchi also did well, who, being from 2008, is in her first winter junior season.
In Dendermonde, Elisa Bianchi finished thirty-ninth overall. "Bianchi surprised me – says Luca -: in the first laps, she was even in twentieth position, then obviously she dropped due to the length of the competition, mud, and climbs. She faced the challenge against the strongest elite riders, showing great character".
ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – In the upcoming weekend, Luca Bramati's boys will be engaged in the Italian Cyclocross Championships in Faè di Oderzo, in Lower Treviso. On Saturday, January 11th, the team-relay national title is scheduled, and Paolo Guerciotti's team is the defending champion. "We intend to participate with 2 teams," says Alessandro Guerciotti, team manager. On Sunday, January 12th, the individual Italian titles will be awarded. The team has registered Elisa Ferri and Elisa Bianchi for the junior women's race, and Lucia Bramati for the under-23 event. Regarding the males, Mattia Agostinacchio and Mattia Proietti Gagliardoni will aim for the junior national title, Filippo Agostinacchio and Tommaso Ferri for the under-23, and Gioele Bertolini among the elite.
