UCI TRACK CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. SUPER SHOW IN LONDON AND TONIGHT... THE GRAND FINALE

TRACK | 07/12/2024 | 08:13
British rider Emma Finucane thrilled the home fans in the UCI Track Champions League event held at Lee Valley VeloPark in London. Tonight, the series will live its final act in front of a sold-out crowd when the 2024 champions will be crowned. There were no changes at the top of the standings in yesterday's stage, with Katie Archibald, Dylan Bibic, Harrie Lavreysen, and Alina Lysenko defending their leader jerseys.
Female endurance leader Katie Archibald had a rollercoaster evening, finishing second in the Scratch race but being eliminated relatively early in the Elimination, coming in ninth. She remains in the lead with a 26-point advantage over Sarah van Dam (Canada) and 30 over Anita Stenberg (Norway), who climbed the rankings to third place with her Scratch race victory. Irish rider Lara Gillespie was another to climb the rankings with an exciting win in the Elimination, her second in the UCI Track Champions League.

Lara Gillespie (Ireland) won an exciting elimination race

Male endurance leader Dylan Bibic also had an equally up-and-down evening but finished strong, moving from 10th place in the Scratch to winning once again in the Elimination. He extended his lead to 17 points over his closest challenger Tobias Aagard Hansen (Denmark), but everything can still happen. Peter Moore (USA) had another strong evening, doubling his Scratch race victories after winning in Round 3.
Female sprint leader Alina Lysenko was one of the night's big surprises when she was eliminated in the Sprint heats. But the young Russian didn't stay down for long, roaring back to win the female Keirin at the expense of home favorite Emma Finucane. UCI Sprint World Champion Finucane still had a brilliant evening, winning the Sprint final to climb back to third place overall.
Matthew Richardson enjoyed an exciting welcome racing for the first time in Great Britain colors in front of a home crowd. Although he couldn't replicate the successes of his first Paris round, a second place in Sprint and third in Keirin allowed him to stay in contact with league leader Harrie Lavreysen (Netherlands), who won both races dominantly.
