It is becoming increasingly common for companies to discover cyclists from different parts of the world who tackle their challenges using their products. The latest adventure is that of Repente, an Italian brand that has become the protagonist of a truly surprising story.
The Canadian comedian and actor Jay du Temple concluded the tour of his second one-man show FIN with a very particular challenge: crossing Canada running and cycling. He accomplished this feat for the benefit of the Douglas Foundation, to support mental health research. At each of his shows, he invited the audience to support the cause by making a donation.
During the cycling stages of his tour, Jay was pedaling on an Argon 18 bicycle equipped with a Repente Prime 3.0 saddle. The Douglas Institute hosts the largest mental health research center in Quebec: its goal is to promote mental health by understanding the causes, treatment, and prevention of psychiatric disorders by applying cutting-edge scientific methods to the specific challenges posed by mental illnesses.
Jay raised and donated over 151 thousand dollars: "Sport is what helps me take care of my mental health" - he says -. "Often, when I'm nervous or need to regain balance, jogging or a bike ride helps me a lot. That's why I turned to the Douglas Foundation. Especially because mental health affects so many people, a reality we are only beginning to talk about. I feel lucky to be able to talk about it more openly and dedicate this tour to it".
At Repente, they are proud of this partnership and even more proud of its purpose and for supporting Jay in this commendable adventure.
