La sesta tappa del Giro di Svizzera - la Locarno-Moosalp di 177,5 km - passerà alla storia come la tappa "mozzata": 29 corridori non hanno preso il via tra positivi, squadre ritirate e altri problemi fisici; tra loro, come avrete potuto leggere, anche la maglia gialla Alexander Vlasov della Bora.

Ma passerà alla storia anche per essere il tappone che finisce al fotofinsh con Nico Denz (Team DSM) e Clement Champoussin (AG2r La Mondiale) che sono piombati insieme sul traguardo e verdetto che dopo lunghi minuti è stato favorevole al tedesco. Delusione per Fausto Masnada che ha tirato per l'intera salita conclusiva ma poi è stato preso nel mezzo dagli avversari e in volata ha chiuso solo quinto.

LA CORSA. Tappa molto impegnativa, con le tattiche rivoluzonate man mano che arrivavano gli annunci dei forfait. La fuga di giornata promossa da Champoussin (AG2R), Smith (BikeExchange), Josè Herrada (Cofidis), Denz (DSM), Pacher (Groupama), Pasqualon (Intermarché), van Moer (Lotto Soudal), Oliveira (Movistar), Masnada (Quick Step), Simmons (Trek) e Thalmann della nazionale svizzera. Poi rientra anche Matthews della BikeExchange. Sulla salita finale che portava al traguardo, la fuga si è sbriciolata, portando all'attacco Masnada e Denz che hanno affrontato insieme l'ultima lunghissima salita fino a 4,5 km dalla conclusione, quando i due hanno vistosamente rallentato permettendo il rientro di Champoussin e di Herrada e poi addirittura di Simmons che è stato il primo a lanciare la volata.

Nel gruppo della maglia gialla Fuglsang, il finale è stato ben controllato da Dani Martinez ch eha impedito qualsiasi attacco e ha permesso al suo capitano Geraint Thomas di tenere sotto controllo la situazione in vista della crono finale che lo vede favorito sugli avversari.
