"The safety of cyclists must be an absolute priority. We cannot accept a tragedy that costs the lives of approximately 200 people on our roads every year. I therefore welcome with great satisfaction the progress made in the approval process of my bill. I thank the president of the Chamber's Transport Commission, Salvatore Deidda, co-sponsor of the proposal, as well as vice-president Andrea Caroppo for the commitment that has made it possible to accelerate the examination of the measure. I am pleased to recall that the proposal was signed by all the group leaders of the majority and opposition in the Transport Commission and shared with mayors, provincial presidents, municipal police commanders and representatives of the cycling world, starting with our world champions. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, and Deputy Minister Edoardo Rixi for the attention and sensitivity they have always shown on this issue, which I have had the opportunity to share with them during parliamentary question time": this is stated by Roberto Pella, Forza Italia deputy and group leader in the Chamber's Budget Commission.
"The bicycle – he continued – represents an important resource for sustainable mobility, sport and the quality of life in our cities. Promoting its use also means protecting those who choose it. The goal is to achieve as soon as possible the approval of a law that can prevent accidents and help save lives," Pella concludes.
