Team Movistar continues to shape its project for the coming seasons with the arrival of Diego Uriarte (Baraín, Navarre; October 26, 2001), who will join the squad next year on a contract through 2029. Having grown through the Lizarte cycling team, Uriarte has spent his entire career with Kern Pharma, joining their first squad in 2024.
Over his three seasons as a professional, he has distinguished himself particularly for his fighting spirit and his ability to insert himself into breakaways, becoming one of the key riders for the Navarrese squad. His best result to date came in early 2025, when he secured his first victory in Alhaurín de la Torre, masterfully winning the fourth stage of the Vuelta a Andalucía after completing a breakaway with a precise attack that anticipated the sprint.
With his arrival, Team Movistar is enriched by a versatile rider, endowed with great fighting spirit and considerable room for growth.
"I am very excited about this transfer. Arriving here represents a step forward in my career and I can't wait to begin this new chapter. I hope to give the maximum possible contribution to the team and to seize this opportunity to continue improving and growing," explains Uriarte.
Team manager Sebastián Unzué adds: "With Diego's arrival, we have brought into the squad a rider capable of contributing on all terrains. I am convinced that the move to a World Tour structure like ours will represent a significant boost for his growth. We can't wait to start working together. Welcome, Diego!"
