A day of cycling, friendship and solidarity on the roads of home. On Sunday the passage of the Coppa Agostoni on the Lissolo once again transformed into a great celebration thanks to the Marco Tizza Fan Club, which brought together friends, colleagues and enthusiasts to follow one of the most cherished appointments in Brianza cycling.
An edition with a particularly special flavor, especially for Marco Tizza, who after concluding his professional career at the end of last season experienced his home race for the first time from the other side of the barrier. No longer with a number on his back and his gaze fixed on the road, but as a fan, surrounded by the people who accompanied and supported him during his years in the peloton.
On the Lissolo, alongside his Fan Club, there were also the guys from Brianza Urban Striders, the new association founded by Tizza together with his partner Giorgia with the aim of bringing together enthusiasts of running, cycling and triathlon, and the friends from the Dolzago Ski Club, who contributed to organizing the day with beer and salamis, in the most authentic spirit of celebration on the roads of Brianza.
A tradition that renews itself every year, but this time took on an even more important meaning. Thanks to the generosity of the many people present, after expenses approximately 600 euros were collected, which will be entirely donated to the nuns of the Bernaga Superiore Monastery, severely affected by the fire of October 2025 that had caused considerable damage to the structure. A day that thus went beyond the simple passage of a cycling race, transforming the passion for two wheels into an opportunity to reunite, keep the bond with the territory alive and do something concrete for the community.
"On Sunday I experienced my first Coppa Agostoni as a 'former' rider and I must admit that, after ten years as a professional, seeing the race pass from the other side of the barrier was an emotion difficult to describe – Tizza told tuttobiciweb –. For me the Agostoni has never been just another race: it has always been the race of the year, my home race. I live just three kilometers from the start and those roads, those climbs and those landscapes were for years the theater of my daily training. They are an important part of my story, not just my sporting story. Even though I've hung up my bike, the Coppa Agostoni will always be a bit my race. This time I was on the Lissolo cheering for the other guys, with the same passion as always, but experiencing everything from a completely different perspective. And being there with so many people who have followed and supported me over the years made the day even more special. Special thanks go to Marco Riva, president of my Fan Club, who has been carrying forward and coordinating this group for years with incredible passion, and to the friends from the Dolzago Ski Club, always essential in organizing and capable of creating that festive atmosphere that now characterizes this appointment. This year, moreover, we also had the guys from Brianza Urban Striders with us, the new reality we created to bring together those who share a passion for running, cycling and triathlon. The greatest satisfaction, however, is knowing that this celebration also had a concrete purpose. Thanks to everyone's generosity, after expenses we managed to raise approximately 600 euros that will be donated to the nuns of the Monastery. For this I want to say thank you truly to everyone: to those who climbed the Lissolo, to those who cheered with us, to those who lent a hand and to those who continue to believe in moments like this. I spent many years in cycling and one of the most beautiful things this sport has left me are precisely the people and the sense of community it manages to create. On Sunday we had proof of this once again: the bicycle unites and our Brianza, when called upon, always responds. See you soon, thanks again and thanks cycling".
