Another victory for Paul Magnier: the young French sprinter from Soudal Quick-Step has conquered today the 39th edition of the Binche-Chimay-Binche-Mémorial Frank Vandenbroucke. At the end of a 206.8 km race, Magnier beat in the sprint the Lotto-Intermarchè pair formed by Jenno Berckmoes and Lionel Taminiaux.
The "Wolfpack" was the protagonist throughout the day, racing at the front of the group and remaining always vigilant in the face of continuous breakaway attempts. An attack in the final by Lewis Askey risked ruining the Belgian team's plans, but Jasper Stuyven performed exceptional work at the front of the group to catch the British rider.
After the race, Magnier stated: "It was a really positive day for us. We always had a man in the front positions and the whole team did excellent work in controlling the race. Jasper was particularly strong in the final and put me in a perfect position. I had a small crash earlier – a rookie mistake due to excessive enthusiasm – but overall we rode a great race. I'm really grateful to all my teammates for the work done and happy to have been able to seal it with a victory".
