Everything is ready for one of the most anticipated days on the Italian cycling calendar. Today will see the Giro dell'Emilia Granarolo and the Giro dell'Emilia BCC Felsinea – Women Elite, organized by Gruppo Sportivo Emilia, with the start for the first time from Ferrara (from the area of Castello Estense, in the heart of the city) and the traditional finish in front of the Basilica of San Luca, which overlooks the city of Bologna.
The races are held with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the municipalities of Ferrara and Bologna, confirming the strong bond between the Giro dell'Emilia and a territory that has always embraced cycling with great passion and participation.

Founded in 1909, the Giro dell'Emilia represents one of the oldest and most prestigious classics on the Italian and international calendar. Since 2009, the men's race has been accompanied by the Giro dell'Emilia Internazionale Women Elite, now the Giro dell'Emilia BCC Felsinea – Women Elite, which over the years has assumed an increasingly important role in the international women's calendar.
The women's race will open the program, with the official start at 10:20, while the men's race will start at 10:50. An edition that promises to be of the highest level, starting with the men's race, which will see 169 riders at the start.
The most anticipated name will be Brandon McNulty, fresh world road race champion, a title won last Sunday in Montréal. The American from UAE Team Emirates XRG will therefore present himself at the Giro dell'Emilia wearing the rainbow jersey and number one on his back, in a lineup that also includes Adam Yates, Jhonatan Narváez and Tim Wellens. Among the most expected riders is Tom Pidcock, starting with Pinarello-Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, while EF Education-EasyPost will be able to count on Ben Healy. Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe will field Jai Hindley and Lorenzo Mark Finn; Bahrain Victorious stands out with Pello Bilbao, Lenny Martinez and Damiano Caruso, while Movistar Team will rely on, among others, Nairo Quintana, at the finish line of his final career race, the same one he won in 2012 that revealed him to the world. Also worth following are Mikel Landa and Filippo Zana with Soudal Quick-Step, Davide Piganzoli and Ben Tulett with Team Visma | Lease a Bike, Thymen Arensman, Oscar Onley and Michal Kwiatkowski with Netcompany INEOS, then Alexey Lutsenko (Nsn Cycling Team) as well as Michael Storer from Tudor Pro Cycling Team and the Bologna natives Lorenzo Fortunato and Simone Velasco from XDS Astana Team.
The men's race will cover 197.9 kilometers. From Castello Estense, the peloton will tackle two laps of the Ferrara city circuit, before heading towards Bologna through the Emilia plains. The race will change character on the hills, with the climb towards Loiano and then the tough Via Belvedere in Pianoro, 1.5 kilometers at 11% average gradient. In the finale, tradition takes over: after entering Bologna, there will be five climbs up San Luca Hill in total, with gradients reaching 20% at the Curva delle Orfanelle.
Great anticipation also for the Giro dell'Emilia BCC Felsinea – Women Elite, with 108 riders on the start list. At the start, with AG Insurance-Soudal Team, Australian Sarah Gigante. Lidl-Trek will be able to count on Amanda Spratt, Loes Adegeest, while for FDJ United-Suez, among others, Kate Courtney, Olympian Vittoria Guazzini and Sofia Bertizzolo will be at the start. And then Arlenis Sierra and Catrin Ferguson from Movistar Team and Monica Trinca Colonel from Liv-AlUla-Jayco.
The women's race will feature a course of 111.3 kilometers. After one lap of the Ferrara city circuit, the riders will cross the plains towards the Bologna province, passing through Minerbio, Bagnarola, Castenaso and San Lazzaro di Savena. The selection will intensify in Val di Zena, with the climb of Botteghino di Zocca, before the grand Bologna finale. There will be two ascents up San Luca, with the finish in front of the Basilica after the final passage on the slopes of the Curva delle Orfanelle.
For Gruppo Sportivo Emilia of patron Adriano Amici, this will also be a particularly significant edition: tomorrow's race will be the fortieth edition of the Giro dell'Emilia organized by GS Emilia, a day that will once again unite great sport and territorial promotion, from Ferrara to the slopes that symbolize San Luca.
The Giro dell'Emilia will be broadcast live on Rai 2 starting at 1:30 PM. From the same time, the race will also be live on the Lega Ciclismo Professionistico YouTube channel.
