A TRE VALLI VARESINE FOR THE BIG NAMES: MCNULTY, EVENEPOEL, PIDCOCK, PELLIZZARI, CICCONE, MAS...

PROFESSIONALS | 02/10/2026 | 18:00

On Tuesday, October 6, the cities of Busto Arsizio and Varese and the entire province will once again welcome one of the most anticipated cycling events of the year: the Tre Valli Varesine, which in 2026 will attract some of the most important champions of international professional cycling to the start line. Opening the day with the start from the Textile Museum in Busto Arsizio will be the sixth edition of the Tre Valli Varesine Women's Race | e-work Up Lavoro, which will attract the best exponents of women's cycling.

This year too, despite the inconvenient clash with the European Road Championships in Slovenia, the Alfredo Binda Cycling Society has received confirmations from great names in cycling at both men's and women's level.

In the men's race, wearing the number 1 bib and his new world champion's jersey, leading UAE Team Emirates – XRG in Varese next week will be the newly crowned professional world champion Brandon McNulty. The Emirati team will also field French rider Benoit Cosnefroy and Ecuadorian Jhonatan Narváez, winner of three stages at the Giro d'Italia this year. Also racing in Varese will be the last winner of the Vuelta a España Eric Mas with Movistar Team. The spotlight is also on Red Bull – Bora Hansgrohe, among whose entries are big names such as time trial world champion Remco Evenepoel and Italian talents Giulio Pellizzari and Lorenzo Finn. Speaking of world champions, the Olympic and world MTB champion Tom Pidcock will also be present with Pinarello-Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.

Lidl-Trek will be one of the most competitive teams led by Spaniard Juan Ayuso and Italian Giulio Ciccone. Bahrain Victorious will have Colombian Santiago Buitrago and Portuguese Afonso Eulalio, already best young rider at the Giro, as its leading athletes. Decathlon CMA CGM Team presents itself at the start with Austrian Felix Gall, second at the 2025 Giro. EF Education – Easypost with former pink jersey wearer Richard Carapaz and attention also to Irishman Ben Healy who has shown great form at the recent Montreal World Championships.

In terms of Italian representation, we also note the presence of Davide Piganzoli (Team Visma | Lease a Bike), Alessandro Romele and Christian Scaroni (XDS Astana Team).

The women's race also features important names from the international scene and several champions returning from the Montreal world championship. Returning from Canada will be former world champion Magdeleine Vallieres with EF Education – Oatly and with her also the strong Swiss teammate Noemi Rüegg. Among the entries is stage winner at the Giro and Tour and a Liège-Bastogne-Liège winner Kim Lecourt-Pienaar, but it was just announced yesterday that an injury has ended her season prematurely. UAE Team L'IMAD, without outgoing winner Elisa Longo Borghini who will be competing in the time trial at the European Championships, will rely heavily on Silvia Persico and Eleonora Gasparrini with the Emirati team also fielding French rider Maeva Squiban, winner of two stages at the 2025 Tour de France Femmes, and Spanish veteran, 2025 world bronze medalist Mavi Garcia.

Among other notable names is Australian Sarah Gigante (AG Insurance – Soudal Team), winner of two stages at the 2025 Giro d'Italia Women. FDJ United – Suez will field, among others, former XCO world champion and current American road champion Kate Courtney. Movistar Team with Cuban Arlenis Sierra, who won the first edition of the women's Tre Valli in 2021, and young British rider Cat Ferguson. Lidl-Trek will present itself with New Zealander Niamh Fisher-Black, Liv-Alula-Jayco with Australian champion Mackenzie Coupland, Team Visma | Lease a Bike will field French rider Marion Bunel, third at the 2026 Vuelta Femenina, then Uno-X with Norwegian champion Sigrid Ytterhus Haugset, already winner this year of a beautiful solo stage at the Tour de France Femmes.

The Course
The Textile Museum in Busto Arsizio is confirmed as the team headquarters with the presentation of the women's and men's squads and athletes who will parade in the garden courtyard and the official start of the race.

The men's race course is 200 kilometers from Busto to the heart of Varese. The "mythical" Ronchi climb is also confirmed this year, which from the long Schiranna lake leads to the center of Varese, the same as the 2008 Varese World Championships. In the final of the race, for two laps, the so-called Cinque Piante climb will be tackled, which from Gavirate, Oltrona district, leads to the Barasso climb that finishes in front of the Town Hall and then one final uphill section passing through Luvinate and Casciago. The 6 laps of the city circuit are confirmed with the finish line on Via Sacco, in front of Varese Town Hall.

The women's race course of 137 kilometers is also confirmed with the first section in a line and then the final 6 laps with the Montello climb and always with the finish line on Via Sacco in Varese.

Both races broadcast live across five continents
For this edition too, the races organized by the Alfredo Binda Cycling Society will be broadcast live on RAI Sport and RAI 2 and thanks to RAI ITALIA and discovery+ / HBO Max / Eurosport the Tre Valli Varesine will be visible across five continents. The women's race broadcast is confirmed from 11:30 to 13:00 on RAI Sport and the men's race from 15:25 to 18:00 also on RAI 2.

Troppe sovrapposizioni
