Sereno Pontoni has passed away at the age of 92 in his native Variano di Basiliano. In the world of cycling, he was a sports director and also served as a race official driver at the Giro del Friuli. He was the uncle of Daniele Pontoni, current head coach of the Italian national cyclocross team.
Sereno is survived by his wife, his children with their families, and his beloved grandchildren.

The funeral will be held today, Thursday, October 1st, at 3:00 PM, in the Cathedral of Variano.
