There is no respite for cyclists training on the roads... Matilde Vitillo, the twenty-five-year-old rider for Liv AlUla Jayco, has been the victim of a serious training accident: the athlete from Asti was pedaling on home roads with her time trial bike when she collided with a tractor.

The impact was violent, leaving Matilde in pain on the ground in a state of confusion: immediately assisted, the cyclist was then transported to the "Cardinal Massaia" hospital in Asti, where CT scans and X-ray examinations revealed a superficial head trauma and multiple fractures to her left hand, fortunately ruling out spinal injuries or internal bleeding.

During the night, Matilde underwent surgery, which was lengthy but completely successful, to reduce the extensive hematoma on her hand. With the fear now behind her, what remains are the pain and disappointment of a season cut short, but also thoughts already turning to 2027 and a strong desire to make a comeback...
