There is great anticipation for the world championship road race reserved for juniors, scheduled over a distance of 134 kilometers, equivalent to 10 laps of the Montreal circuit. Italy presents itself at the start with a solid and ambitious lineup, composed of five riders ready to play a leading role.

Leading the Italian contingent will be Sardinian Enrico Balliana (Team Ecotek Zero24), the reigning Italian champion. The spotlight is also on South Tyrolean Brandon Fedrizzi (Borgo Molino Vigna Fiorita), author of an extraordinary season enhanced by thirteen victories, including the Trofeo Paganessi, the Trofeo Buffoni and the prestigious E3 Saxo Classic in Belgium. Completing the lineup are Cuneo native Luca Gugnino (UC Piasco), the only athlete in the quintet in his first year in the juniors category, and Veronese riders Patrik Pezzo Rosola and Guido Viero, both racing for Nordest Villadose Angelo Gomme. Pezzo Rosola arrives at the world event strong from the brilliant fifth place he secured in the world championship time trial held two days ago.

The Italian national team will therefore have at its disposal a balanced group, capable of combining international experience, quality in one-day races and young talents called to measure themselves against the best of world cycling in the category.

The competition will be particularly fierce and numerous. Among the most anticipated nations stands out Spain, which will be able to count on four elements of absolute value: the new world champion in the time trial Noval, the two Martinez Luca and Aitor, plus Lopez, all riders capable of aiming for a prestigious result.

Great attention also to Denmark, which presents itself with a trio of high quality formed by Birkedal, Risbjerg and Gren, while Belgium entrusts its ambitions to De Smet, already protagonist with the silver medal won in the time trial.

Among the most credited protagonists are also the French Gayant, Laffitte and Defrance, the Australians Coates and Wright and the English Storrie and Townsend, all athletes capable of entering the fight for top positions.

In the list of possible protagonists there is also room for Austrian Hettegger, Swede Wandel, Slovenian Bohak, Latvian Tjumins, Slovak Michalik and Irishman McCrystal.

To complete a field of the highest profile there will also be Americans Hincapie and Nistal, Norwegians Haugetun and Flaterud, Czechs Tesarik and Stiblik, without forgetting the Canadian hosts Moreau and Deveer, determined to stand out on the streets of Montreal in front of their home crowd.
