Matteo Scofet claims the 59th edition of the Piccola Sanremo, a prestigious national race reserved for amateurs, inscribing his name in the honour roll of the Veneto classic. The Turin-based rider from Padovani Polo Cherry Bank, competing in his first season in the Under 23 category, built his victory with a decisive move in the closing stages of the race, managing to shake off Russian Vadim Grechishkin and crossing the finish line in Sovizzo, in the province of Vicenza, all alone.
Behind him came Grechishkin himself, forced to settle for second place, while Spanish rider Jaume Barcelo from UC Monaco completed the podium.
