German rider Max Kanter secured his fourth career victory and claimed the 23rd edition of the Gooikse Pijl p/b Lotto, held with the start in Roosdaal and the finish in Gooik after 199 km. The XdS Astana rider beat Dutch competitor Frits Biesterbos of Picnic PostNL and Belgian Jordi Meeus of Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe in a sprint finish. Young Italian Alessandro Borgo of Bahrain Victorious finished in ninth place.

THE RACE. In a race perfectly suited for sprinters, the teams of the sprint specialists never allowed space for the numerous attacks that followed one another, and no breakaway attempt truly shaped the course of the race.
