The Groupama-FDJ United Cycling Team announces the departure of Julien Pinot, Performance Manager, at the end of the 2026 season. After fifteen seasons with the team, Julien has expressed the desire to turn the page and take a step back. This is a decision that the Groupama-FDJ United Cycling Team respects and accepts, despite the deep mutual bond between Julien and the team.
Joining the team in 2012, Julien has been a key figure in its growth over the years. First as a coach and subsequently as Performance Manager, he has worked with numerous riders and has contributed significantly to the development and structuring of training and performance within the organization.
Julien's departure comes at a time when the team has been working for several months on the evolution of its organizational structure. This work will continue actively in the coming months.
Thierry Cornec comments: “Fifteen seasons with the same team is an important milestone that naturally creates unique bonds. Julien has worked alongside many riders, has experienced some of the team's finest moments, and has played a fundamental role in the evolution of our approach to training and performance. Beyond his expertise, his humanity, his commitment, and his ability to foster a strong team spirit have been invaluable throughout these years. Since my arrival, I have greatly appreciated our discussions and the way we have worked together. Together with Marc, we fully respect his decision to take a step back and embark on a new personal chapter. After fifteen seasons, this is a choice we understand and respect. Until then, Julien will continue to work with us at full pace: we still have several weeks and the rest of the season to live together.”
For his part, Julien Pinot emphasizes: «After fifteen years spent with the team, I feel the need to take a step back, to disconnect from daily routine, and to challenge myself in new ways. Above all, however, I feel immense gratitude for everything this team has allowed me to experience, both personally and professionally. I would like to thank Marc for the trust he has placed in me from day one and Thierry for listening to me and respecting a decision that is being made public today. This is a personal choice, made with serenity, that does not diminish in the slightest the deep affection and bond I will always feel toward this team. I am gradually concluding this adventure with Groupama-FDJ – which has held such an important place in my life – with great gratitude and pride for everything we have accomplished together».
