A total of 138 riders from 17 nations and 20 teams will compete tomorrow in the Gran Premio del Lazio organized by Terenzi Sport Eventi, with the start at 12 noon sharp from Fiuggi and the finish line in Anguillara Sabazia, with live coverage from 15:15 on Rai Sport television, on HBO/Discovery platforms and on the Italian Professional Cycling League's Youtube channel.
Being a race for sprinters, there will be a strong contingent of sprint specialists: former French national champion Dorian Godon (Ineos Netcompany) and his Australian teammate Sam Welsford, experienced Colombian Fernando Gaviria (Caja Rural), Veronese riders Giovanni Lonardi (Polti VisitMalta) and Enrico Zanoncello (Bardiani Csf 7 Saber), Mexican Cesar Macias (Burgos Burpellet), Catalan Marc Brustenga (Kern Pharma), Bergamo-based riders Davide Persico (MBH Bank Csb Telecom Fort) and Nicolò Arrighetti (General Store), Romagna's Simone Buda (Solme Olmo), Friuli's Alessio Menghini (Technipes Emilia Romagna) and Danish rider Mads Andersen (Swatt Club). The start list also includes several athletes with good acceleration potential in case of selection and a more fragmented finish. Looking at the teams without a pure sprinter, former Italian champions Simone Velasco (XDS Astana) and Filippo Conca are present, for a Jayco AlUla team that can also count on Andrea Vendrame and Luke Plapp; as well as Frenchmen Alexandre Delettre and Mathieu Burgaudeau (Total Energies), Colombian Jonathan Guatibonza (Movistar Academy), Michele Gazzoli (Solution Tech Nippo Rali), Lorenzo Ursella (Padovani), Stefano Leali (Biesse Carrera), Andrea Biancalani (Beltrami TSA) and Russian Under 23 champion Maksim Mishankov (Mg K Vis).
Eagerly awaited by the home crowd are the two Roman riders in the race: Santiago Ferraro (from Cerveteri) and Martin Marcellusi, both riding for Bardiani Csf 7 Saber.
In the municipal theater of the Ciociaria city of departure, Fiuggi, the traveling exhibition of the Coppa Italia delle Regioni is present throughout the weekend, along with two screenings resulting from collaborations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "Rays of Wellness" (Farnesina, Italian Professional Cycling League, FederTerme) on the connection between cycling and healthy lifestyles, followed closely by a video contribution promoted by Farnesina and the Italian Cycling Federation, which tells the stories of Italian cycling legends and will also be screened next week at the Italian headquarters at the Montreal World Championships.
In the finish city, finally, Anguillara Sabazia (on Lake Bracciano) will host an important health initiative: the Health Village curated by Novo Nordisk, Official Health Partner of the Coppa Italia delle Regioni, which as part of the "Cities for Better Health" project, implemented in Italy together with ANCI and Health City Institute to combat non-communicable chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases, will provide free cardio-metabolic consultations at Piazza del Molo (from 10:30 to 12:30) and from 14:30 will launch the Driving Change Arena, a moment of discussion between experts and local representatives to talk about urban health and prevention of non-communicable chronic diseases through physical activity and sport.
