This is a very demanding section, characterized by an opening part focused on tackling the slopes of the Majella and concluding at the top of a real wall.
The route then approaches the coast and enters the Sangro valley: with continuous ups and downs, riders pass through Bomba and Santa Maria to climb to Montelapiano and after Casalupatella scale the Colle dei Ferrari which, with a long descent, leads to state road 81.
There's a gentle climb back to Guardiagrele before descending rapidly to the foot of the final climb. The first part takes place on medium-width roads dotted with curves and small villages, while the finale features wide, spacious roads predominantly straight with the final kilometers in steep ascent (over 10%) before the last turn with the final straight in slight uphill.
