STAGI'S RATINGS. THE SPECTACLE OF MIRABILANDA, MAS'S MANAGEMENT, THE COURAGE OF KUSS AND VISMA

DIRECTOR'S RATINGS | 12/09/2026 | 18:35

Mikel LANDA. 10 with honors. Mirabilanda, as Luca Gregorio would say singing from the Eurosport microphones about his champion of reference. Finally Landa, five years and 33 days (1862 days in total) after his last victory, eleven years after his last success at the Vuelta. Victory number 17 in his career for a rider who has always promised much more than he has delivered and shown. Today he puts his heart and soul into it. It's all or nothing: and he made it. The Basque rider went strong, and next year will return to race for a home team (Euskaltel-Euskadi, for two seasons), but today he gifts a precious gem to his Soudal Quick Step. A long chase towards victory, a masterful finale, with Mikel shaking off even the last two survivors (Debruyne and Johannessen), before the triumph, before the ecstasy.

Tobias JOHANNESEN. 9. Tremendous effort, absolutely tremendous. The will to win, too. Unfortunately today he finds himself pedaling against someone who is inspired, someone who finally has the stars on his side. For the Dane a placement that is not a victory, but it would be wrong to consider it a defeat.

Ramses DEBRUYNE. 8.5. Tough, the 24-year-old Belgian rider from Alpecin. Tough because he believes from morning and only surrenders late in the afternoon, but in front of his nose he has only two riders: behind him, many more.

Sepp KUSS. 9. Along with Landa, he is the man of the day. If there are two riders who take control of the situation and try to do something that will remain, it's these two. The American arrives exhausted and spent, supported by a majestic Van Aert and a gigantic Nordaghen. Kuss makes a jump of 6 positions and closes this Vuelta in 5th place. Not bad for a Visma that didn't win this edition, but literally dominated it.

Walter CALZONI. 8. A forward-thinking race, a race with great technical content. For the 25-year-old rider from Brescia with Pinarello Q 36.5, an absolutely high-level and prestigious performance: he finishes 9th, but in a stage like today's that's really something.

Lorenzo FORTUNATO. 8. A top ten for the 30-year-old from Bologna with XDS Astana. A prestigious placement that was needed for this rider who perhaps expected more from this Vuelta.

Enric MAS. 10. A comeback race, with absolute control, with a Gall who forces him to come out into the open only in the finale. He doesn't torment himself, there's no reason to and, probably, it's not in his nature. He is a methodical rider and behaves as such. He gives nothing to the spectacle, he does what he knows how to do, he certainly can't invent something new. He wins meritoriously a modest Tour of Spain, where the leveling is evident, as is the slight predominance of the rider from Majorca.

Felix GALL. 6. He tries, in the closing credits, on the soundtrack that is already honoring Mas. He has the merit of trying, but for just a few seconds, which is why he finishes third.

Primoz ROGLIC. 7. At 36 years old he takes home a second place that in any case smells of miraculous. He returns from an injury and invents a Vuelta where he is never brilliant, but never beaten either: in fact he is still there, on the podium. With honor.

Richard CARAPAZ. 5. We were expecting him in this final week that adds nothing to a Vuelta orphaned of Taddeo and that stabilizes itself definitively. The Ecuadorian could have been one of the few to upset the applecart, but he misses his turn and nothing happens.

Finn FISHER-BLACK. 7. The Red Bull - BORA – Hansgrohe rider enters the breakaway of the day with his teammate Gianni Vermeersch and with them Ivo Oliveira (UAE Team Emirates - XRG), Wout van Aert (Team Visma | Lease a Bike), Oscar Chamberlain (Decathlon CMA CGM Team), Pau Miquel (Bahrain - Victorious) then Magnus Cort, Simon Dalby, Tobias Johannessen, Andreas Kron, Andreas Leknessund and Rasmus Tiller (Uno-X Mobility), finally Bryan Coquard and Louis Rouland (Cofidis). For Uno X it was a great opportunity, given the massive numerical superiority, the Danish formation is annihilated by Mikel Landa, who lives one of the most beautiful days of his career today.

Chris HAMILTON. 17. The Team Picnic PostNL rider is forced to abandon the Vuelta after the crash in which he is involved: the same fate for Matthew Riccitello of Decathlon.

Generoso il direttore.... Doveva puntare alla maglia GPM e una tappa. Dai, un decimo posto con una fuga di cinquanta corridori e il primo GPM poi derubato nella tappa con la grandine gli ha salvato la Vuelta
