And here we are at the moment of reckoning, at the stage with no tomorrow, at the day of days. Stage number 20 of the Vuelta España, from La Calahorra to Collado del Alguacil, 187 km with 4,850 metres of elevation gain: the last opportunity for anyone wanting to try attacking Enric Mas or climbing positions in the general classification.

It is a tough stage, very tough, marked by continuous climbs: it begins at km 50.7 with the crossing of the Blacares, 3rd category, 8 km at 3.7%; then the double ascent of El Purche, 1st category, 8 km at 8.1%: mountain passes scheduled at km 94.4 and then at km 125.

Descent and new climb to Puerto El Duque, 1st category, 7 km at 8.3%: at the mountain pass there will be less than 30 kilometres to the finish line, just enough time for another descent and then tackle the final climb to Collado del Alguacil, a Hors catégorie ascent measuring 8 km at 9.8%.

Up there, at the summit, the Vuelta will definitively know the name of its master.
