Matthew BRENNAN. 10 with honors. He has no rivals: it's practically a foregone conclusion. At just 21 years old, the British rider from Visma Lease a Bike confirms he has reached a level that should only be tested in races of higher caliber, against the world's best sprinters: here he's already playing at that level. He does what he wants, guided by a world-class Van Aert. Fourth stage victory in this Vuelta, his eleventh of the season, his twenty-third in his career: these are starting to become impressive numbers, considering his age.
Brian COQUARD. 8. He's won one sprint, and came extremely close a second time. The 34-year-old French rider from Cofidis confirms he's in excellent form. He's inspired and there's no guarantee he won't try again.
Vito BRAET. 7.5. The 25-year-old Belgian from Lotto Intermarchè secures a third-place finish that was far from easy. Like a cat, he slips through the gaps.
Jordi MEEUS. 5. The Red Bull-BORA–Hansgrohe sprinter was expected to make a statement, but he didn't show up.
Wout VAN AERT. 8. He delivers a monumental lead-out to Brennan and, as usual, stays right there in the front positions, taking home a sixth-place finish, just for good measure.
Vincenzo ALBANESE. 6.5. The 29-year-old EF rider throws himself into the mix, tries to make speed and succeeds: he brings home a solid eighth-place finish.
Alberto DAINESE. 6.5. Second top-ten finish for the 28-year-old Soudal rider. Today he finishes in the top ten, but he can aim for something better.
Pau MIQUEL. 5. The Spanish rider from Bahrain-Victorious was expected to perform, but he doesn't show.
Orluis AULAR. 5. The Movistar sprinter confirms a slow Vuelta.
Kevin VERMAERKE. 8. The 25-year-old American from UAE Team Emirates-XRG attacks and takes the day's breakaway. He's accompanied by Valentin Madouas (Groupama-FDJ United), Simon Dalby (Uno-X Mobility), Jasha Sütterlin (Jayco AlUla), and Roland Thalmann (Tudor). The race runs at around 46 km/h, with scorching heat, but in the end they have to surrender to the peloton. The American gets the consolation prize of the combativity award.
