The organization of Vuelta 26 has decided to modify the route of stage 15, scheduled for tomorrow, September 6, between Palma del Río and Córdoba, due to the high temperatures forecast for the day.
In order to protect the health of the riders and ensure the best possible conditions for the race, the Protocol for Extreme Weather Conditions has been activated for stage 15.
Consequently, the following measures have been implemented:
- the stage will cover 110.2 kilometers, instead of the originally planned 189.7 kilometers.
- the neutralized start will be postponed to 14:50, with the actual race start at 15:00.
- the route modification will take effect at kilometer 52, where the race will take the CO-3402 towards Santa María de Trassierra, instead of continuing along the A-3075 towards Villaviciosa de Córdoba, as originally planned.
The decision was made following the activation of the Extreme Temperature Protocol, after a meeting involving representatives from the Commissaires Panel, the teams, the riders, and the direction of La Vuelta, taking into account all considerations raised by the various parties and the weather conditions forecast for tomorrow's stage.
