Italian colors dominated the second stage of the Tour of Shanghai 2026 thanks to Manuele Tarozzi. Having entered the decisive breakaway 20 kilometers from the finish line, the twenty-eight-year-old rider from Faenza won the Songjiang-Qingpu stage covering 94.8 kilometers, distancing the other three companions in the escape (Jongwan Lim of LX Cycling Team, Kongqing Wei of FNIX - SCOM - Hengxiang Cycling Team and Zeb Kyffin of Terengganu Cycling Team, the latter finishing second) with a decisive acceleration launched 3,900 meters from the finish line.

This move allowed him to celebrate solo under the finish banner, breaking a drought that had lasted 701 days, as the last time the Bardiani CSF 7 Saber rider had raised his arms to the sky was during the sixth stage of the 2024 Tour of Langkawi.

Asia clearly brings good fortune to the best climber of the 2025 Tirreno-Adriatico, who, thanks to today's victory, has become the new leader of the general classification of the short Chinese stage race, which will conclude tomorrow with the Fengxian-Nanhui stage covering 92.6 kilometers.

Manuele Tarozzi's words: "I entered the breakaway from the start and, as the kilometers went by, the group ahead became more selective. In the final, I understood we could make it and I gave everything until the finish line. I'm very happy with this victory and for having also taken the leader's jersey".
