One month before the race, Lombardia U23 officially publishes the list of participating teams. Despite the overlap with the UEC European Championships in Slovenia, scheduled for October 3rd, the international classic from Oggiono confirms an absolutely elite field: 28 foreign teams (14 development squads from World Tour teams) and 7 Italian teams, for a total of 18 nations represented. A participation that, by the numbers, maintains the race at the technical standards of a true world-class appointment.

This edition will also mark a historic milestone: for the first time, Lombardia U23 will have Carolina Maria Re Depaolini as its race director, a native of Nerviano in Milan, born in 1984. A figure whom the late Franco Binda had identified and prepared with foresight for this prestigious and complex role, recognizing her qualities, balance, and expertise.

Thus, Lombardia U23 will christen the new race director, who will be able to count on absolutely top-level support: the assistant race directors Giuseppe Rivolta and Roberto Sardi, experienced professionals and already key figures in the organization of Velo Club Oggiono. Special thanks go to Giuseppe Rivolta, to whom president Daniele Fumagalli and the entire staff recognize the professional, precise, and consistent work carried out over the past three years. A decisive contribution that has guaranteed continuity, organizational quality, and reliability to the race.

Lombardia U23, now in its 98th edition, remains a treasure of Italian cycling: a historic race, recognized and appreciated on the world stage. For two years, however, the overlap with the UEC calendar has created an evident friction. A choice that does not protect a high-profile event, but rather exposes it to competition that shows little regard for the cultural and sporting value that this race represents for Italian and international cycling.
