As the last days of summer approach, it's already time to think about autumn. But there's no need to despair, because with autumn come the great classics of Italian cycling, and the Coppa Agostoni - Giro delle Brianze 2026 will open, as tradition dictates, the now celebrated Trittico della Regione Lombardia. The appointment is for Sunday, October 4th, with the start, finish and headquarters as usual in Lissone, already working for several months to set up the race that regularly attracts some of the world's best riders.

This year's edition will be the 79th, but SC Mobili Lissone is celebrating 80 years of activity, which is why there are more reasons to celebrate and enjoy a day of sport. The club was founded in 1946 by a group of cycling enthusiasts to follow young local talents and organize races, on a non-profit basis. Over the years it has created teams of amateurs, juniors, youth and young riders, with many athletes who have gone on to wear the Italian national jersey in the most prestigious international competitions. The race dedicated to Ugo Agostoni - a historic and successful cyclist from Lissone in the early 1900s - has grown in step with the club, which over the years has also hosted an Italian championship in 2001 and a stage start and finish in Lissone at the 2005 Giro d'Italia. In December 2024, CONI awarded Sport Club Mobili Lissone the "Silver Star" for sporting merit.

Cycling has changed, but I would say that the whole world has changed compared to the years of the pioneers, yet here in Lissone the passion and unity of purpose have never been lost. The Coppa Agostoni has become a wonderful gathering place for local enthusiasts, but not only that, because now people come from all over Italy and even from abroad to watch the race. On Sunday, October 4th, we will write another chapter of this beautiful story".

From a technical standpoint, the organizers have confirmed the innovations of the last two seasons, opting for a slightly shorter but more open and unpredictable route. The 2026 Coppa Agostoni, which is part of the Coppa Italia delle Regioni and is the only professional race held entirely on Brianza territory, will start from Via Bottego, with km 0 on Via Catalani and finish on Via Matteotti, always in Lissone. After an initial flat section of about 20 km, the riders will enter the famous Lissolo circuit, which fans know by heart but which never bores due to its charm and history. The loop is 28 km long, will be repeated 4 times and features three climbs: Sirtori (1500 m at 4.9%), Colle Brianza (3.8 km at 6%) and Lissolo (5.4 km at 4.3%). There are no impossible gradients, but in total there will be 12 climbs to tackle and the selection will come out naturally. On the exit from the circuit, there will be 35 km of flat terrain leading back to Lissone, where anything can happen, with attacks and reshuffles.

The race will build on Adam Yates' solo victory in 2025. The Briton's win, however, is just the latest name in a rich and prestigious palmares since the race's early years. From Felice Gimondi to Eddy Merckx, passing through Italo Zilioli, Franco Bitossi, Roger De Vlaeminck, Francesco Moser, Giuseppe Saronni, Giovanni Battaglin, Maurizio Fondriest, Gianni Bugno, Andrea Tafi, Jan Ullrich, Laurent Jalabert, Filippo Pozzato, Davide Rebellin and Sonny Colbrelli: these are just some of the names that have made the Brianza race great.
