The countdown has begun for the Tour of Tuscany-Alfredo Martini Memorial and Grand Prize City of Peccioli-Sabatini Cup, races of the Italian Regions Cup. The "Tuscany" is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, the "Sabatini" on Thursday, September 10. The races will be organized by the Pecciolese Cycling Union and are also linked by a challenge named after the great Alfredo Martini. The 2 races will be closely followed by the technical commissioner of the Italian national professional road cycling team, Roberto Amadio. The Veneto coach made his debut this year leading the Italian Elite (professional) National Team and has already achieved a fine success. His Italy dominated the road race at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto: gold medal for Tommaso Dati, bronze for Federico Iacomoni.
Roberto Amadio, born in 1963, boasts a fine career as a track and road cyclist. In Bassano del Grappa, in 1985, he was crowned World Champion in team pursuit on the track. He raced as a professional from autumn 1985 until the end of the 1989 season. Subsequently, Roberto embarked on a brilliant career as a sports director and team manager of professional teams. His riders included Pavel Tonkov, Vincenzo Nibali, Ivan Basso, Peter Sagan and many other champions. For the Italian Cycling Federation, he worked for several years as team manager of the National teams before becoming coach of the "pros". The 2026 Road World Championships are scheduled to take place in Montreal.
PRESENTATION OF TUSCANY AND SABATINI – The 2 classics will be presented to media representatives, authorities and sponsors on Friday, September 4 (6:00 PM) at Palazzo Senza Tempo, in the heart of Peccioli (Pisa).
