As explained by Ciro Scognamiglio of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian champion was supposed to take part this week in the ZLM Tour (scheduled from tomorrow to Sunday, September 6), but due to the aftermath of the crash that forced him to abandon the Renewi Tour prematurely, the Lidl-Trek rider will not be at the start of the Dutch stage race.

Having crashed badly on August 20 and withdrawn the following day, the twenty-five-year-old from Buja (who has managed to secure 12 victories so far in 2026) has not yet fully recovered from the tumble he was involved in thirteen days ago and, as a result, will now be forced to revise his plans for the coming weeks.

His team will therefore have to rely on the speed and qualities of other riders in the Dutch event, a race where, given the almost complete absence of climbing difficulties, Milan would undoubtedly have been the clear favorite and main reference point in the four stages that cater to sprinters.
