The 30th Giro di Toscana-Memorial Michela Fanini concluded in Montecatini Terme with the victory of Canadian Sidney Swierenga, 19 years old, one of the youngest winners in the history of the race organized by patron Brunello Fanini.

The final of the four stages was won by French Cofidis rider Victoire Berteau, who finished ahead of six breakaway companions, including the pink jersey wearer. In the placings were Italian Nadia Quagliotto, teammate of the stage winner, and Belgian Van Sinaey. It was a Giro full of plot twists and emotions that ultimately rewarded Swierenga, already national champion in both road race and time trial and considered one of the hopes of Canadian cycling, who defended herself brilliantly in the final stage by controlling her most dangerous rivals. In the general classification standings, the strong Dutch rider Eisen and French rider Berteau took the podium places. The top-placed Italian in the standings was Nadia Quagliotto (Cofidis) in sixth position. The organization was excellent.

THE STAGES: In the time trial prologue in Chiesina Uzzanese, Dutch rider Lonneke Uneken won ahead of Souren and Knijnenburg. In Quarrata, a group sprint saw Italian track cyclist Martina Alzini victorious ahead of Quagliotto and Bobnar; in the third stage in Segromigno in Piano, Canadian Sidney Swierenga won by a significant margin after attacking on the Valgiano climb with the unfortunate Dixon forced to stop due to a puncture, while Eisen and Kingma finished in the placings.
