One year after the success of Giovanni Lonardi, Polti VisitMalta confirms itself as the queen of the Grand Prix de Plouay. Succeeding the Venetian sprinter in the roll of honor of the Breton classic is another rider from the Italian team, Tommaso Bessega, who in the sprint claimed the twenty-fifth edition of the cross-border race, thus achieving his first career victory.

Behind him, in order, finished Nolann Mahoudo (VC Pays de Loudéac), Hans Rullier (Mayenne-Monbana-Rapido) and Alexis Pierre (Moyon Percy Manche Normandie), who could do nothing against the masterful leadout performed by the white and red riders (guided today in the team car by Jesús Hernández), which allowed Bessega to unleash all his power at the right moment.

This move, which came at the conclusion of a race that saw the last three survivors of the morning breakaway caught only on the final climb 6 kilometers from the finish, thus brought the sixth seasonal success for the team of Ivan Basso and Alberto Contador, which, thanks to this new victory, confirms itself as the best Italian team in the UCI team ranking for 2026.
