It was a memorable and emotion-filled day for Andreas Leknessund, the Norwegian from Uno X-Mobility who triumphed on the classic climb finish at Aramon Valdelinares in Aragon, the seventh stage of the Vuelta. A breakaway lasting 144 km with a 34-second advantage over his teammate Tobias Johannessen.

At 27 years old, Leknessund is one of the most experienced riders in Thor Hushovd's Norwegian team, but at the same time he cannot hold back his emotions: "I didn't expect such a strong reaction. I'm feeling so many emotions. I fought hard for this. It means so much to me".

Words that reflect the dedication and commitment he has put into his sport, a journey marked by challenges and sacrifices: in 2023, for example, he wore the pink jersey for five days at the Giro d'Italia and finished in eighth place.

The Valdelinares stage saw Leknessund face a formidable opponent like Van Aert, with whom he collaborated for much of the race: "It was a truly special day. Wout and I attacked hard right from the start. It was tough, we were going incredibly fast".

Johannessen's role proved decisive: "The fact that he was there in the breakaway with us gave me the confidence I needed to believe we could win", Leknessund added. In a gesture of sportsmanship, Johannessen made way for Leknessund on the final climb: "He practically handed me the stage victory. I'm very proud and grateful".

For Uno X-Mobility, this is the third stage won in a Grand Tour in 2026: Fredrik Dversnes Lavik triumphed on the prestigious Milan finish at the Giro and sprinter Soren Waerenskjold won the Nevers stage at the Tour de France. A great result for the team that has made a further leap in quality this season.

The day was marked by a moment of respect and commemoration: Leknessund and Johannessen wore black armbands in tribute to King Harald of Norway, who passed away today.

"It was a special day. For the team and for all of Norway," said the winner, emphasizing the importance of coming together in moments of both joy and sorrow.
