Davide Ballerini could part ways with XDS Astana at the end of this season, the team with which he made his WorldTour debut in 2019, before transferring to Soudal Quick-Step, where he raced for four seasons, and then returning to the Kazakh side in 2024.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport colleague Ciro Scognamiglio on X, three teams have reportedly shown interest in the Cantù-born rider, winner of the sixth stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia: Jayco AlUla, Pinarello Q36.5 and Visma Lease a Bike.
At the moment there are no official agreements and the situation remains entirely to be defined. Ballerini's name has returned to the cycling market, however, at a particularly significant moment in his career, following a 2026 that has already given him one of the most important victories of his professional experience.
In Naples, the 1994-born rider secured his first victory in a Grand Tour. After 141 kilometers from Paestum to Naples, Ballerini managed to stay clear of the crash that involved several of the main contenders in the final kilometer, then imposing himself in the reduced sprint ahead of Jasper Stuyven. A significant success, which also represented the first Italian victory in the 2026 edition of the Giro.
Now, after adding a new jewel to his palmares, the Cantù native could be called upon to write a new chapter of his career, this time away from XDS Astana.
