Definitely 2026 is not the season thatStefan Bissegger hoped to experience. The Decathlon CMA CGM Swiss rider has not yet come to terms with his non-selection for the Tour de France - "It was a real surprise for me" - but now he has an even more serious problem to deal with.
Having set out with a desire for redemption at the Tour of Poland, Bissegger was involved in a crash caused by an advertising arch probably placed too close to the edge of the road.
The accident caused him a double pelvic fracture and now forces him to face a race against time to recover and try to participate in the Montreal World Championships. "If I can get back soon, there's still hope: I have a 50% chance of managing to recover for the worlds and I want to give it my all," he said.
