Stories of ordinary road madness, stories of intolerance, stories we would never want to tell and which, unfortunately, often surpass imagination. A motorist hit a group of cyclists in Lanzo Torinese, in the province of Turin: not once, but twice, following an altercation in the middle of the road.
According to the reconstruction by the carabinieri, the man driving the car deliberately struck the cyclists along the road towards Coassolo. Two of them are in serious condition. The incident occurred on Saturday morning: the group consisted of cyclists who had set out from San Mauro, Settimo Torinese and San Raffaele Cimena for an excursion in the Valli di Lanzo.
As reported by law enforcement, the motorist, heading towards Coassolo, allegedly overtook the group while repeatedly honking the horn. After the overtaking, one of the cyclists allegedly expressed his disapproval with an arm gesture.
The motorist, according to the cyclists' account, stopped, put the car in reverse and hit the group for the first time. The driver allegedly attempted to drive away, but some cyclists chased him in an attempt to stop him: at this point the man allegedly made a U-turn, heading back towards the cyclists and hitting them a second time.
Two patients were transported by helicopter to the CTO in Turin, while two others were taken to San Giovanni Bosco hospital. The two most seriously injured, it appears, suffered trauma and fractures. For one of them the prognosis is reserved.
The motorist, after the double impact, drove away. Shortly after, however, he presented himself voluntarily at the carabinieri barracks in Venaria.
