The cycling world mourns the passing of William Donati, father of Alessandro Donati, current sports director of Bardiani CSF Faizanè 7 Saber. Born in 1946 and originally from Pescara, William passed away in recent days, leaving a profound void in his family and in those who had known his passion for cycling.

Donati raced as a professional in 1969 with Ferretti, a team then directed by the late Alfredo Martini. A brief but significant experience that had marked his bond with cycling and which, over the years, he naturally passed on to his son Alessandro.

Alessandro himself, raised in the spirit of that passion, competed for nine seasons among the professionals, from 2004 to 2012, wearing the jersey of Acqua&Sapone, before embarking on a career as a sports director that today sees him as a prominent figure in the Italian cycling landscape.
