A passion for cycling and especially for the bike without limits. For years, Florentine doctor Maurizio Benucci, director of rheumatology at San Giovanni di Dio Hospital, covers several thousand kilometers each season, choosing climbs as his preferred terrain. An affable and likeable character, known throughout the Tuscan and national cycling community, starting with many champions and riders from years past and young athletes still active, he has had a special 2026 season (and it's not over yet) competing in almost all the most famous and prestigious cycling gran fondos organized such as the Maratona delle Dolomiti (the most recent), the Nove Colli in Cesenatico, and the Strade Bianche in Siena.

This participation allowed Dr. Benucci to achieve the "jersey" of Prestige, a recognition awarded by CT Cicloturismo magazine to those who have completed at least six gran fondos. There are 41 cycle tourists who can boast this achievement, which represents passion, dedication and sacrifice, but also the satisfaction of climbing the most challenging peaks of our Peninsula alongside many friends. In the past, Dr. Benucci has tackled famous climbs abroad in France and Spain in the company of former cycling world champion Maurizio Fondriest, and now he is awaited by other challenges.
