Thomas Silva completes the perfect weekend and, after winning yesterday at Ordizia, repeated his success today in the 40th edition of the Castilla y Leon Classic, held over a distance of 190 kilometers from Benavente to Lubián.
In the grueling finale that led into the heart of Lubián, XDS Astana dominated the race, propelling the Uruguayan to victory and completing the result with Christian Scaroni's third place. Between them was Roger Adrià of Movistar.
THE RACE. After 13 kilometers, the breakaway was formed which, in a curious coincidence of numbers, ended 13 kilometers from the finish. Eight riders went on the attack: Ronan Augé (Unibet Rockets), Rayan Boulahoite (Total Energies), Adrian Benito (Polti VisitMalta), Leangel Linarez (Tavfer Ovos), Viacheslav Ivanov (Feirense Beeceler), Lucas Grieco (AVC Aix en Provence), Edson Corbadora (Victoria Sports) and Jaume Espuis (Meridian).
While XDS Astana worked in the peloton, in the second undulating section of the course three riders remained ahead: Ivanov, Benito and Boulahoite, who was the last survivor.
